Driving Test Booking Service

On the day of your Practical Driving Test

You should arrive at least 10 minutes before the practical driving test. Wait in the test centre  waiting room with your Driving instructor. The Examiner will come out at the appointed time. You will  be asked for both parts of your driving licence and asked to sign a form to ensure you live at the address on the licence and that the car is insured for the purpose of the practical driving test. You will be asked to read a number plate from about 20 metres, then asked two “show me tell me” questions.

The Driving test will begin, 1 in 3 tests will be asked to do an emergency brake, there will be 10 minutes independent driving and you will be asked to do one  maneuver,  after approximately 37 minutes at the end of the test the Examiner will tell you the result of the driving test. The Examiner should explain what faults he has marked and the end of the practical driving test once you are back at the driving test centre.

Pass Plus course

Once you have passed your practical driving test then the Pass Plus scheme is aimed at new drivers to help them become better drivers. Your ADI will help you complete the six training modules to pass the training course. You can take a Pass Plus course at any time. However, it’s mainly aimed at new drivers in the first year after passing their test.

With Pass Plus, you could reduce your car insurance premiums or get an extra no claims bonus with some insurance companies.

Pass Plus consists of six modules about driving in different conditions:

  • in town
  • in all weathers
  • on rural roads
  • at night
  • on dual carriageways
  • on motorways

The theory test is made up of two parts; a multiple choice section and a Hazard Perception test. The multiple choice bit is delivered using a touch screen computer and mouse, while the hazard perception test records your responses through the use of a computer mouse button. You’ll need to pass both parts to successfully complete your theory test. If you pass one part and fail the other, you’ll fail the whole test, and will have to take both parts again.

You can book your Theory or Practical test through the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) website.
